An important part of landscape design that is given short shrift by many people is the landscape lighting. Granted, it can be hard to visualize the need for landscaping lights during the daylight hours when everything is naturally illuminated by the sun. But in the evening when it gets dark, your landscaping will virtually disappear into the night unless you have some sort of outdoor lighting system installed.
While solar powered outdoor lighting is now an economical option, there is no guarantee on how effective it is as a long term solution. The weather is obviously unpredictable. You may never expect when it will be sunny or cloudy. Therefore, you'll never tell if it can be charged.
Positioning of an outdoor light is really very crucial. It should serve two main purposes, lightening up and decorating. An outdoor light positioned above the gate can be both decorative as well as illuminative. One does get the feeling of walking on the moonlight if it is positioned somewhere in the height. Sometimes it can be placed in the base to illuminate the entire structure such as a tree or fountain.
